Children’s Music Opportunities

Angel Choir & Junior Praise Choir
Does your child love to sing? Are you looking for an activity that keeps them active, helps them learn to share God’s Love, and involves them with a great set of friends? Consider having them join one of the Children’s Choirs at Grace! We would love to have them join us!
  • Angel Choir practices on Thursday evenings from 6:00 – 6:25, and the children are typically ages 3 through Kindergarten.
  • Junior Praise practices on Thursday evenings from 6:30 – 6:55 and range from 1st  through 5th grade.
Both choirs are scheduled to sing monthly at the 10:45 am worship service.  Contact Lori Ogle for more information at logle@hershey.k12.pa.us.

Children’s Musical 2020
Grace United Methodist Church will once again be performing a youth musical. This year’s show, “A Not So Terrible Parable”, will be performed on Sunday, March 29th with dress rehearsal on Saturday, March 28th. The musical is for children in 1st grade through 8th grade; and we do have some roles that would be great for middle school students! Starting in January, most rehearsals will occur on Sunday afternoons.

On November 10th from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. we will have our first rehearsal to introduce the children to the music. At the same time, we will hold an important meeting for the parents.

Please email Lori Ogle at LOgle@hershey.k12.pa.us with the names and grades of the children who would like to participate so we can make sure that we have the appropriate amount of materials ready for rehearsal on November 10th. If you would like to participate but are unable to attend, please indicate that in your email.
Youth Handchime Ensemble

Grace UMC is excited to be starting a handchime ensemble for our youth from grades 4-8.
Rehearsals will be upstairs in the Music Room on Thursday evenings from 6:00 – 6:30 PM. This is a great opportunity for youth to have fun, build friendships, learn about music, and participate in worship ministry here at Grace. Leadership will be provided by a dynamic duo of handbell experts who love Grace’s youth: Val Stricker and Jacki Kratz! Our first rehearsal (and parent information meeting) will take place on Thursday, November 7; and we plan to prepare music for performance at the 10:45 service on December 15th and at the 7:00 PM Christmas Eve service.

If you are interested in participating or would like to get more information, please email our Music Director, Andrew Meade. andrewmeade@gracehummelstown.org
Junior Organ Assistants
Over the past few weeks, you may have noticed children coming and going from the organ console during some of our services.  These are our new “Junior Organ Assistants”! This fun program is open to any elementary-aged child and no musical experience is necessary.  If your child would like to discover the organ and assist our organist for the first few minutes of a service, please contact the director of music, Andrew Meade: andrewmeade@gracehummelstown.org.

RECAP: Children’s Musical 2019

In the Big Inning”: RECAP

Back on Sunday, April 7 we were all treated to an incredible performance by 33 of our children and youth. The baseball-themed show, In the Big Inning, conveyed the story of Christ’s love through music, drama, and dance; and our dedicated cast was outstanding! A big “Thank You” to all cast parents and everyone who helped with this production in any way. And very special thanks to Lori Ogle and Kim Dotts who gave countless hours to provide vision and leadership to this project!
Great job everyone!
