Adult Christian Education Opportunities

Grace UMC Sunday School is held year round at the times outlined below. Our goal is to grow and strengthen our faith and understanding of the love of Christ in our adults. We follow the UMC Safe Sanctuary standards of oversight. Our various Adult Christian Education classes are outlined below. If you have any questions on which class might best suit your needs, please contact our Director of Discipleship, Tammy Houck at
At this time, all adult small groups are meeting virtually. Grace plans to reassess re-entry into the building for small groups after Easter (Sunday, April 4th, 2021).
ABC Class
  • This group is not meeting at this time.

  • Gathers online at 9:15am on Sunday mornings.
      • Current Study:How to Read Your Bible” with Jennie Allen – RighNow Media
          • Does the Bible feel too intimidating and complex? Does understanding it feel impossible, so you don’t even try?  In this study, you will come to understand why the Bible is the greatest tool we have. You will open your eyes to the way the Old Testament and New Testament connect and show you the purpose of each book of the Bible.
  • Currently the men and women of Connections are meeting virtually on Wednesday evening at 8:30pm.
      • Women of Connections – gather online on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month.
          • Current Study: “Nice” / by: Sharon Hodde Miller – RightNow Media
          • God never calls us to be nice. We live in a culture that prizes niceness as one of its highest virtues. Niceness keeps the peace, wins friends, gains influence, and serves our reputations well, but it also take the teeth out of our witness and the power out of our faith. When we choose to be nice instead of faithful, we bear fruit that are bland, bitter, empty, and rotten to the core. Join the group as they are challenged to cultivate a better “tree” by applying practical steps to reclaim out credibility as followers of Christ and bear better, richer, more life-giving fruits.
      • Men of Connections – gather online on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month.
          • Current Study: “Uprising” / by: Erwin McManus – RightNow Media
          • You can change your appearance, your habits, your friends, your job … but you can’t change your character. No on your own. You were in God’s imagination before you were ever born. All the talent, gifting, and creativity you possess was placed in you by God Himself. Can you imagine the things you can do, the impact you could have on the world, if you tapped into the dreams God has for your life? Join the group as they discuss the possibilities.
FOCUS (Friends of Christ United in Sunday School)
  • Gathers online at 9:20am on Sunday mornings (can join online or by phone for audio)
  • June 8th – August 8th: “Faith Under Fire: Exploring Christianity’s Ten Toughest Questions”  / by: Lee Strobel and Garry Poole – RightNow Media
      • Description: This 10-week series is hosted by Lee Strobel who has spirited discussions and debates between well-respected Christians, people of other faiths, and people with no faith at all, on some of the most important spiritual and social issues of our time. This study will tackle one topic per week and answers tough questions about the existence of God, Christianity and Islam, the reliability of the Bible, faith and science, any many other issues.
  • The class encourages you to join them in being connected, experiencing broad topics, typically online video segments,  that help you grow in faith and understanding – all while enjoying being a part of a community who not only prays together but shares laughter along the way!
Journey Through The Bible Class
  • Gathers online at 7:00pm on Monday evenings (can join online or by phone for audio)
  • Current Study: “Be Committed: Ruth & Ester”  /  by: Warren W. Wiesbe
      • One was a foreigner and a peasant. The other, a reluctant queen to a man she hardly knew. But their stories have one thing in common: A remarkable faith committed to doing God’s will.  In this book we will talk about how God wants us to use our faithful commitment.
  • You will prepare for the interactive discussion by pre-reading material.  The group invites you to join them as they delve deeper into God’s Word and real-life application as they encourage one another.
Serendipity Class
  • This group is not meeting at this time.

Vital Pursuits Class

  • Gathers online at 10:45am on Sunday mornings (can join online or by phone for audio)
  • Current Study: “The Power to Change” / by: Onika McClellan – RightNow Media
      • This study will help you understand the work of the Holy Spirit in your life and the process of sanctification. There is no checklist to follow, but there is a daily act of surrender to a God that will continue to cold and shape you. The more you know God, the more you can live like him.
  • The group will be utilizing RightNow Media for studies on building community, and how you live the Gospel out in everyday life. Please join the group and be a part of this change!
  • Grace will be offering church membership small group gatherings for those interested in membership or for those who want to know more about Grace.  We were not designed to grow in isolation and that is why COVID-19 has been so very challenging – it feels lonely to be on a spiritual island.  We invite you to gather with us as we commit to follow Christ and be connected as church community.
  • We will gather on Sunday mornings from 9:30 am – 10:30 am in the pavilion (near the APR ) on July 11, July 18 and July 25 (weather permitting).  There will also be a ZOOM group available at 7:00 pm on July 11, July 18 and July 25.
  • Anyone who desires to transfer or commit their membership to Grace is asked to join one of these groups.  New members will be brought into the church on August 1st.  Please contact Tammy at or (717) 566-2897 for more information or to register.
