3 Year-Old Class


Class Times:
T/Th – AM – 9:15 – 11:45AM
T/Th – PM – 12:30 – 3:00PM

The major focus of the 3-year-old program is socialization. The goal is to facilitate a smooth transition from home to preschool, encourage the socialization of children with their peers, and foster appropriate behavior in a classroom environment. The major objectives of our program are to: 1. instill within each child basic scriptural truths by relating Biblical concepts to desired behavior and attitudes. 2. provide an away-from-home experience that builds independence, social development, creativity, a positive self-image, a sense of achievement and security, a joy of learning, self-expression, and self-control, and 3. to extend a child’s home to include the school environment.

1. Social Development:
*Arriving at school and adjusting easily
*Playing cooperatively with other children
*Beginning to show an understanding of sharing toys and taking turns
*Using “Please” and “Thank You” appropriately
*Participating willingly in games and group activities
*Transitioning from one activity to another
2. Motor Development (fine + gross):
*Grasping a crayon effectively
*Cutting with scissors
*Running without stumbling
*Catching a large bounced ball
3. Cognitive Development:
*Giving full name when asked
*Identifying and naming shapes and colors
*Counting 5-10 objects*Holding a book right-side up
4. Spiritual Development:
*Knowing God loves them
*Understanding that prayer is talking to God
*Recognizing the Bible is God’s special book
1. Social Development:
*Play activities, role playing, modeling by teachers and peers, group times, snack times, planned center activities, art activities, music and movement activities, and indoor and outdoor large motor play
2. Motor Development (fine + gross):
*Running, jumping, climbing, throwing balls, catching balls, balancing, hopping, parachute play, cutting with scissors, tearing paper, playing with Play-Doh, building with blocks, holding a crayon/pencil, coloring with crayons, tracing lines, and stringing beads
3. Cognitive Development:
*Name recognition, counting games, weather and calendar jobs, academic concepts of the month, coat and tote hooks, stories, and songs
4. Spiritual Development:
*Bible stories, Bible verse memorization, praying before snack, praying for a sick friend, integrating Biblical truths into everyday activities, felt stories, music, songs, and finger plays
