Adult Christian Education Opportunities

Grace UMC Sunday School is held year round in adult classes every Sunday from 9:30 – 10:30 am.
Our goal is to grow and strengthen our faith and understanding of the love of Christ in our adults. We follow the UMC Safe Sanctuary standards of oversight. Our various Adult Christian Education classes are outlined below. If you have any questions on which class might best suit your needs, please contact our Director of Discipleship, Tammy Houck at tammyhouck@gracehummelstown.org.

  • March 18th: “He Chose the Nails” / by: Max Lucado, This study examines the gifts that Christ gave at his crucifixion.  These include not only the gift of the cross, but also the gift of the thorns, the nails, and the empty tomb.  The cross is rich with God’s gift of grace, and as we unwrap them, we will hear his whisper, “I did it just for you.”
  • April 22nd: “All the Places To Go… How Will You Know” / by: John Ortberg, Very rarely in the Bible does God command someone to “stay.” He opens a door, and then he invites us to walk through it―into the unknown. And how we choose to respond will ultimately determine the lives we will lead and the people we will become. In fact, to fail to embrace the open door is to miss the work God has made for us to do.

Journey Through The Bible Class

  • Meets in Room 208
  • A weekly Sunday school class that runs all year. The discussion oriented, life application class studies a single book of the Bible for 10 weeks utilizing a study guide. We switch between Old and New Testament studies. Our goal is to learn and understand the Good News as told in the Bible.
  • Current Study: “Be Victorious”, A Study of the Book of Revelation and How its Message Applies to Your Everyday Life  / by: Warren W. Wiersbe

Serendipity Class
  • Meets in Room 205
  • The Serendipities meet to study God’s word and interpret it through our lives. We concentrate on mission projects as we go forth, at Christ’s command, to make disciples. We are informal in structure so we can move as the Holy Spirit leads us. We care about our class members, the greater Grace family, the Hummelstown-Hershey area, and people everywhere.
